Park Mark Award
Durham County Council is pleased to announce that all three of its Park and Ride car parks have been awarded the Park Mark - Safer Parking Award.
This award is promoted by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) and is awarded to car parks which have acheived the standards required by the Safer Parking Scheme, designed to reduce crime and the fear of crime in car parks.
In order to meet the award, each of the car parks was independently vetted by Prevention Officers to show that the facility is correctly managed and maintained, and has the appropriate levels of surveillance, lighting, signage and cleanliness, all of which have been shown to reduce the opportunity for crime.
Customers using these car parks therfore can be assured that measures are in place to deter criminal activity, and create a safer environment for them and their vehicle.
